If you are searching for a green space on campus that makes you feel as if you are miles away from busy city of Madison, look no further than John Muir Park, or more commonly referred to as Muir Woods. You don’t have to wander far to find nature; here, you can experience seven acres of forest without leaving campus. Not only will you see oak trees, maple trees, or other tree species, but also wildlife. Nestled in the Lakeshore Nature Preserve, Muir Woods is located near Bascom Hall and the Sewell Social Science Building. You can enter the forest from Observatory Drive and exit on the Lakeshore Path, where you can continue your adventure along Lake Mendota’s shoreline.
