Tenney Park

With its enchanting storybook scenery, Tenney Park is a Madison favorite. Enjoy a relaxing stroll along the path and over the bridges like a character in a fairy tale. Take in the impressive views of Lake Mendota, and watch as boats enter or exit the Tenney Park lock, which connects Lakes Mendota and Monona via the Yahara River. With plenty of open space and park benches throughout its nearly 40 acres, you can read your favorite book under the trees or sunbathe on a warm summer day. Tenney Park also offers a basketball court, volleyball court, tennis court, and soccer field for sports enthusiasts. Even when the sunny summer days turn into cold, snowy ones, Tenney Park is the place to be. Spend the day ice skating on the lagoon, and afterward enjoy a warm mug of hot chocolate in the park shelter. It is about a 10 minute drive, or a 15 minute bike ride from campus.
